The Brief
The project called for a distinctive bistro-café and hospitality venue in Bastos, combining dining, entertainment and more private social spaces within a single destination. The programme included a ground-floor restaurant, an upper-floor bar with private booths, a professional kitchen with substantial storage, a swimming pool and additional secluded seating areas. The site has a capacity of approximately 200 guests.
The Context
Located in Bastos, Yaoundé, the project occupies a 1,337 m² site and was completed in 2019. The venue needed to accommodate different experiences throughout the day and evening, from informal dining and drinks to dinners, gala evenings and small-scale concerts. Its varied food offering and role as an entertainment venue required the architecture to support both customer experience and demanding back-of-house operations.
Our Response
Our design organised the venue as a G+1 building, with the principal restaurant at ground level and a bar with private booths on the upper floor. Behind the public areas, a generously equipped kitchen and storage facilities support the restaurant’s operations. At the rear, a swimming pool forms the focus of an outdoor hospitality area, with private booths arranged alongside it. The combination of dining areas, a bar, VIP booths, a sushi takeaway service, the pool and a glazed balcony creates a varied but connected customer experience.
The Outcome
The Project was completed in 2019 and has developed into an established dining and entertainment destination in Bastos. Its spaces accommodate everyday restaurant service as well as group dinners, gala nights and intimate live events. The venue marked its seventh anniversary in September 2026, indicating continued operation since its opening, while recent listings describe an international culinary offer, outdoor dining and an elegant social atmosphere.
